Abstract: This study examined the effect of stakeholder engagement on the performance of the Green Amayaga Project in Rwanda. It specifically assessed the influence of stakeholder participation in project planning, implementation, monitoring, and decision-making on project performance. A quantitative research approach was adopted, and data were collected from 183 respondents. The data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics, including correlation, regression analysis, and ANOVA. The findings revealed a strong and statistically significant positive relationship between stakeholder engagement and project performance (R² = 0.979, F = 1673.801, p < 0.001). Effective stakeholder engagement enhanced coordination, communication, accountability, resource utilization, sustainability, and the achievement of project objectives. Despite these positive outcomes, the project experienced slight implementation delays and cost overruns, as reflected by a Schedule Performance Index (SPI) of 0.96 and a Cost Performance Index (CPI) of 0.94. The study concludes that effective stakeholder engagement is a critical determinant of project performance and sustainability. It recommends strengthening inclusive stakeholder participation, maintaining continuous communication, and ensuring active stakeholder involvement throughout all stages of the project lifecycle.
