Effect of Artificial Intelligence on Project Management Optimization Processes: A Case of Advocacy for Street Children and Family Reintegration Project Implemented by Sympathy Rwanda Organization in Huye District, Rwanda

Abstract: The study investigated the effect of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on project management processes in the Advocacy for Street Children and Family Reintegration (SCFR) Project implemented by Sympathy Rwanda Organization in Huye District, Rwanda. It examined AI integration, Data-Driven Decision Making, Community Engagement Strategies, and project management optimization. The study was anchored on the Social Ecological Model, Technology Acceptance Model, Organizational Information Processing Theory, and Agile Project Management Framework. A descriptive correlational design was adopted. The target population comprised 138 respondents, from whom a sample of 103 was determined using Slovin’s formula. Purposive sampling was used for the manager, director, and supervisors, while random sampling selected employees and street children. Data were collected using questionnaires, interviews, and an observation checklist and analysed using SPSS, descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation, regression, and ANOVA. Overall inferential findings established a strong positive relationship between AI and project management optimization (R = 0.750, R² = 0.568, Adjusted R² = 0.567, B = 0.377, β = 0.750, t = 3.800, F = 355.18, p < 0.0001). The study concluded that AI, data-driven practices, and community engagement strengthened project management processes and recommended continued AI training, stronger data governance, inclusive community participation, and strategic alignment of AI with planning and monitoring functions.
