Role of Integrated Project Management on Reducing Malnutrition in Low-Resource Settings in Nyamasheke District, Rwanda

Abstract: This study examines the role of Integrated Project Management in reducing malnutrition in low-resource settings in Nyamasheke District, Rwanda. Specifically, the study assessed the role of Project Resource Integration in reducing malnutrition in low-resource settings in Nyamasheke District. Anchored in the Resource-Based View Theory, the study employed a cross-sectional research design using both quantitative and qualitative approaches. A census approach was adopted, with a target population of 156 respondents, of whom 151 were administered questionnaires and 5 Project Managers participated in interviews. Data were collected through questionnaires and interviews and analyzed using SPSS, with findings presented using descriptive and inferential statistics. The findings revealed a strong positive relationship between Integrated Project Management and malnutrition reduction, with a Pearson correlation coefficient of r = 0.695. Regression analysis further indicated that Integrated Project Management was a significant predictor of malnutrition reduction, with an unstandardized coefficient of B = 0.721 and a p-value of 0.000. The model explained 48.3% of the variation in malnutrition reduction. The study concludes that effective integration and coordination of financial, human, and material resources contribute significantly to improving nutrition interventions and reducing malnutrition in low-resource settings. Based on these findings, the study recommends strengthening the integration and coordination of project resources, improving financial resource mobilization and budget allocation, and ensuring the timely provision of nutrition supplies and adequate skilled personnel to enhance the effectiveness of nutrition interventions in Nyamasheke District.
