Factors Associated with Backsliding of Members in West Congo Field as a Basis for a Retention Strategy

Abstract: The current study investigated factors associated with backsliding of members in west Congo Field as basis for a retention strategy, using quantitative method. Sources of data were questionnaires and documents. Four churches, one hundred and seventy-five backsliders, pastors and church members participated in the study. Data analysis revealed several factors that explain the high rate of backsliders in west Congo Field. The study faced a real challenge in relation to the membership statistics, namely many which recorded did not correspond with the number of physical and active members. The study recommends that Knowing, according to Jesus’ parable of the sower found in Matthew 13, in order to retain newly baptized members, even if every effort and possible means have been made, the church should not abandon the discipleship ministry in favor of those for whom Christ still pleads through small groups and visitation program as strategies.

Vous savez nous avons étudié dans le cours du Christianisme 1 que nous avons parmis nous les JESUITES s’introduiront parmi nous pour allez loin jusqu’à séduire même les oint de Dieu et comme dit la Bible. Mais la majorité qui entre vient avec un profit de connaître la vérité est allez informer leurs responsables des églises enfin de préparer le combat contre nous, d’où il y a parfois diminution et que le travail d’encadrement des membres des cellules est resté seule au pasteur. Soit disant que les pasteurs sont benifiaciaires des biens des membres. N’oublions pas également que le déplacement massive peut entraîner une baisse. Alors mieux vaudrait multiplier les nouveaux champs d’évangélisation avec les pionniers capables de nous amener à franchir cette barre et garde le nombre, pourqoui pas multiplier ce nombre et les encadrants. While this phenomenon is present in the church and many leaders are concerned about the cooling of members, this work comes at the right time to allow us to ask ourselves the right questions and work to avoid the perdition of baptized members. Thanks you vert much Pastor Mbaya,the loss of members us a real problem in our churchers,WE are baptizing more and all these after a short period they disappear and their names remain in our files and registers. This IS an important issue that deserves leaders to get involved to stop this loss of members. That all department also get involved to put an end to this phenomenon.
