Abstract: Discipline amongst students guarantees success in the achievement of school activities and ensures excellent academic performance. However, challenges in monitoring or documenting students’ indiscipline cases are mitigated by Closed Circuit Television system which improves the management of student discipline. Therefore, the study investigated the impact of using Closed Circuit Television system to manage student discipline in public secondary schools in Imenti North Sub County in Meru County, Kenya. Systems theory of management by Ludwig von bertalanffy (1951) and scientific theory of management by Fredrick Winsor Taylor (1909) guided the study. Descriptive survey research design was employed. The target population was 448 respondents. A sample size of 90 participants comprising of principals, deputy principals, class teachers and class secretaries was obtained through Purposive sampling method. Questionnaires and interviews were used to collect data. Piloting was conducted in Meru Central sub county. Content validity was determined by supervisors and experts. Reliability of instruments was confirmed by a Cronbach alpha Coefficient of 0.76. Thematic analysis was used to analyze qualitative data. Quantitative data was examined through descriptive analysis using percentages and averages and analysed with the aid of Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) Version 29. Qualitative data was presented narratively while quantitative data was presented in tables and charts. The findings showed that CCTV systems improve monitoring and deter misbehavior, contributing positively to student discipline. The study concluded that CCTV systems protect both learners and property thus resulting in effective management of discipline in schools. The study recommended that the Government, parents and guardians provide adequate funding for the installation and maintenance of technological systems in schools.

Abstract: The study’s main purpose was to assess the causes of indiscipline among students of Mbarara City Secondary Schools in Uganda. The main argument was that although secondary schools have put rules and regulations in place, indiscipline cases have continued to increase which has affected students’ career prospects and damaged schools’ reputations. The study was guided by quantitative research methodology. The sample size of the study was 175 respondent teachers who were purposively selected for data collection. The findings were that indiscipline in Mbarara city secondary schools was caused by inadequate career guidance programs, students’ failure to comprehend school rules and regulations and drug abuse among others. It is recommended that secondary schools should make career guidance programs compulsory, communicate effectively to students on rules and regulations, encourage sports activities in leisure time and above all ensure that school premises are properly fenced.

Abstract: The purpose of this study was to explore strategies that could be used in the implementation of the Tanzania Education Policy on Discipline Management in Tanzania schools. In carrying out this study, mixed research approach was applied. Sampling was done using convenient, systematic and simple random sampling. Questionnaire and interview tools were used for collection of data. Analysis of data was done using Statistical Package for the Social Science (SPSS) and Atlas.Ti. Key findings of the study were that students were not being involved in the implementation of the policy and not educated about the policy and the necessary implementation strategies; teachers had not been given adequate training on the policy; parents were not being regularly updated about the progress of their children in schools and their behavior; teachers violated the stipulations of the corporal punishment policy and such teachers were not being punished; and school staff were not being involved in improving students’ behavior. It is recommended that government should be open to receive the support of various stakeholders so as to be able to scale-up a strong protection system that will enable ending the violence against children; the community in general and schools in particular should be empowered to be able to prevent all practices that jeopardize children’s rights; effective strategies and regulatory framework should be developed with a view to ending practices and approaches that compromise positive behavior management in learners. It is also recommended that government should launch a plan of action which focuses on ending all violence and harmful practices against children.
