Abstract: This study examined the effect of stakeholder engagement on project success, with a case study of the renovation of Amahoro Stadium in Kigali, Rwanda. The study objectives were: to examine the influence of project planning on project success; to analyse the effect of project execution mechanisms on project success; and to assess the effect of project decision making on project success. The target population was 150 project participants. The study applied Stakeholder Theory, Agency Theory, and the Resource-Based View (RBV). Both descriptive and inferential statistics were used, employing Pearson correlation and a multiple regression model. Correlations between project planning, project execution mechanisms, and project decision making were 0.925, 0.862, and 0.945, respectively (p < 0.05). Regression analysis revealed that project planning was not statistically significant (p = 0.105), while project execution mechanisms (p = 0.000) and project decision making (p = 0.000) were significant predictors of project success (R² = 0.904). The study concludes that stakeholder engagement significantly influences project success. It is recommended that the Ministry of Infrastructure actively engage citizens through awareness campaigns, training programs, and collaborative initiatives.

Abstract: This study examined how stakeholder engagement affects project performance, focusing on Rwanda’s Green Gicumbi Project. Guided by stakeholder theory, it evaluated the impact of stakeholder involvement in planning, decision-making, and implementation phases. Using a mixed-methods approach, the study gathered data from 150 respondents, including project managers, team members, and local officials. Data analysis involved descriptive statistics, regression, and ANOVA. Findings showed that engagement in decision-making (mean = 3.675) and implementation (mean = 3.662) significantly improved project performance. Planning engagement (mean = 3.723) also had a positive, though slightly weaker, effect. Regression analysis revealed a strong positive correlation (R = 0.702) between stakeholder engagement and project performance, explaining 49.3% of the variance (R² = 0.493). The Durbin-Watson statistic (0.085) indicated positive autocorrelation. ANOVA results (F = 143.807, p = 0.000) confirmed the significant influence of stakeholder engagement. The study concludes that stakeholder engagement is essential for project success. It recommends prioritizing stakeholder involvement in all phases, improving decision-making, and integrating feedback into planning. Policymakers should promote supportive environments through training, incentives, and continuous engagement. These findings provide key insights for enhancing project outcomes through strategic stakeholder management.

Abstract: The general objective of this study is to investigate the effect of project delays on the performance of construction projects in Gasabo District, Rwanda, specifically focusing of Zaria Court Project by Real Contractors Ltd. Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 25 facilitated descriptive and regression analyses, ensuring the generation of meaningful interpretations of the research findings. The R value of 0.797 indicates a strong correlation between the predictor variables (Decision making, Scheduling and Supply chain) and the performance of Zaria Court Project by Real Contractors Ltd in Gasabo District, while the R squared value of 0.635 signifies that 63.5% of the variance in performance can be explained by the independent variables included in the model. The Durbin-Watson statistic of 1.983 indicates that there is no significant autocorrelation in the residuals, which strengthens the model’s reliability. The significance of the model is confirmed with a p value of less than 0.05. The coefficients indicate that for each unit increase in supply chain, scheduling and decision-making, the performance of the project is expected to increase by 0.369, 0.187, and 0.409, respectively, when all other variables are held constant. The significance of each coefficient (p < 0.05) confirms that all independent variables have a statistically significant effect on the performance of the project. The paper recommends that Real Contractors Ltd staff should attend risk management training, suppliers improve inventory systems, and teams adopt technology.

Abstract: The need to visibly engender women’s participation in decision-making became a growing global concern through the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW). Despite the Kenyan 2010 constitutional provisions for gender mainstreaming, little has changed. This study sought to examine the level of women involvement in gender mainstreaming policy implementation on decision making in Baringo County. The study was guided by Equity Feministic Theory by Sommers (1994). The study used cross-sectional survey design and mixed method approach. The target population was 2446 respondents comprising of employees, members of the County Assembly and Members of the Public Service Board. The sample size was based on Krejcie and Morgan (1970) sample size determination to arrive at sample size of 329 respondents. Questionnaires, Interview guides and FGDs were used to collect data. Reliability was determined through test-retest approach. The quantitative data were analysed using frequencies, percentages, mean and Standard deviation. Pearson Correlation and linear regression analysis were employed to determine relationship that exists between the independent and dependent variables. Qualitative data were thematically classified and arranged before they were reported in narrations and quotations as per the research objectives. The study found out that there was a significant positive correlation between gender mainstreaming policy implementation on women political representation and women governance (r = .581; p = .000). The study recommends that there is need for streamlining of women appointment to senior positions in the county to allow for efficiency and inclusivity in governance.

Abstract: The proposition of this paper is that gender representation is the gist for meaningful development in a country. In this paper we analyzed the effect of gender representation on decision making process in deposit taking Saccos in Uasin Gishu County, Kenya. We argue that despite gender representation being an important aspect in the growth of Saccos, it has been given a low profile in the management of Saccos, thus impacting negatively their growth and achievement. The study used cross-sectional research design and targeted 11 managers and 867 delegates. A sample size of 266 delegates and 11 managers was used. Simple random sampling was used to select delegates, while purposive sampling was used to select the managers. Questionnaires and interview guides were used to collect both quantitative and qualitative. The quantitative data was analyzed by SPSS (version 25) and the findings were presented using frequencies and percentages. Qualitative data was analyzed descriptively and presented in narrations and quotations. The study found that there was a significant positive correlation between gender representation and decision-making in deposit taking Saccos ((r = .387; p = .000). It was concluded that the number of women in decision making organs in deposit taking Saccos leads to improved decision-making process and therefore there is need for improving the number of women in decision making organs in deposit-taking Saccos since the presence of women in Sacco boards was associated with efficiency in decision-making process.

Abstract: The purpose of this study was to establish effectiveness of parental involvement in management of primary schools in Kyerwa District, Tanzania. The study adopted Epstein conceptual framework to guide the conceptualization process and formulation of study objective. In addition, a mixed approach involving descriptive research design was used to carry out the study. The target population of the study was parents whose children attend primary education and have been elected to serve in the school management committee. The study population was 730 parents who are members of the school management committee. Data for the study was collected from 146 primary schools which are found in the district and from a sample of 82 parents. The study used probability and non-probability sampling specifically proportionate and purposive sampling, which provided the best data to achieve the objective of the study, questionnaire and structured interviews were used as instruments for data collection. The study concludes that parents were not effectively involved in management of primary schools. They were not always involved in decision making in running of the school. In light of the findings, the study recommends that primary schools headmasters should actively involve parents who are members of school management committee in decision making. This will enable school leaders to incorporate parents’ interests in daily running of the school and hence create a better teaching/learning environment, thus contribute to achieving quality primary education.

ABSTRACT: Participation in decision making is an important aspect for proper functioning of any kind of organization, educational institutions included. In response to this fact, this study sought to investigate on teachers‘ participation in various aspects of decision making among Public Secondary Schools of Moshi Municipality, Tanzania, using descriptive survey research design. A random sample of 260 teachers from 14 schools participated by filling the questionnaire. A group of research experts from the University of Arusha went through the questionnaire against three research questions that guided this study and gave comments where necessary adjustment was needed before data collection was done. To ensure acceptable reliability of data, a pilot study was conducted in one school which was not part of the study sample and Cronbach‘s Alpha of greater than 0.7 was obtained in each category of the questionnaire. Data analysis was done through descriptive statistics in terms of mean scores and standard deviations. The study came up with a conclusion that the level of teachers‘ participation in planning extra-curricular activities, allocation of resources, determining sources of income and allocation of budget was limited. Proper channels for them to air out their views on curriculum planning and change were very low. Based on these conclusions, it is recommended that school administrators need to change their attitudes and consider teachers as key partners in the process of decision making. They also need to establish a collaborative atmosphere in which teachers can freely share their ideas regarding different aspects of school planning and development.
