Abstract: Despite enormous development progress and a plethora ofknowledge on gender mainstreaming, assessments and evaluations demonstrate a significant gap in implementation, probably due to implementation-related issues. The purpose of the study was to examine the institutional human resource establishment towards gender mainstreaming in selected Universities in Kenya. The descriptive survey design was used on a sample of 371 respondents from four of the 37 targeted Kenyan public universities. Vice Chancellors, Deputy Vice Chancellors; Academics, Planning and Finance, Head of Procurement, Planning, Registrar Academics, Registrar Finance, Registrar Student Affairs, Registrar Sports and Games, Head of Departments, Deans of Students, Gender Department Chairpersons, and University Counselors were sampled using stratified, simple random and purposive sampling. The researcher consulted with the supervisors to guarantee the content validity of the research tools. The study used ‘split-halves’ and ‘internal consistency’ methods to measure reliability. The Key Informant Interview responses were reviewed, categorized, and presented in tables, pie charts, and graphs using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 24. The results were given in the form of frequency tables, percentages, and narration. The relationship between the variables was tested using Pearson’s Correlation and Multiple Linear Regression. The findings are expected to be useful in developing newer strategies for implementing gender mainstreaming, raising awareness through public seminars and workshops, providing new knowledge to scholars for research and library use, and serving as a guide for policymakers on key gender mainstreaming strategies, among other things.

Abstract: This descriptive-correlational study examined the level of parental involvement in type 1-6 of Epstein typologies and the level of parents’ education knowledge base in curriculum content extracted from the mandated national curriculum guide in Kenya and whether the parental involvement practices predicted the parents’ education knowledge base in curriculum content using data collected from selected Seventh – day Adventist primary schools in Central Kenya Conference. Questionnaires were used to collect data from 291 parents. Results showed that the level of parental involvement among the parents was average and parents were somehow knowledgeable in curriculum content. Additionally, there was a positive linear effect between the predictor variables and the level of parents’ education knowledge base in curriculum content in different grade groups. Learning at home typology was identified as the best predictor variable in most subjects followed by communications typology. On contrary, volunteering typology was not a significant predictor of any subject. It was recommended that schools, parents and community to work collaboratively to enhance effective partnership and empowered parent-teacher community for the success of the students.

Abstract: Despite the enormous advancements in development and the wealth of knowledge on gender mainstreaming, assessments and evaluations reveal a significant disparity in implementation, maybe because of difficulties with implementation. The study determined policy framework implementation procedures towards gender mainstreaming in selected Universities in Kenya. The study was guided by the liberal feminist theory by (Wollstonecraft, 1794). The study employed descriptive survey design on a sample of 371 respondents from 4 out of the 37 targeted public universities in Kenya. Multi-stage sampling of stratified, simple random and purposive sampling will be used to sample Vice Chancellors, Deputy Vice Chancellors, Academics, Planning and Finance, Head of Procurement, Planning, Registrar Academics, Registrar Finance, Registrar Student Affairs, Registrar Sports and Games, Head of Departments, Deans of Students, Gender Department Chairpersons, and University Counselors. Data for this study was collected through Key Informant Interviews, Observation checklist and document analysis. The study used ‘split-halves’ and ‘internal consistency’ methods to measure reliability. The findings are expected to be of value in acting as a guide for policy makers on key gender mainstreaming strategies among other benefits.

Abstract: The main objective of this study was to examine the impact of gender differences on students’ performance in mathematics in secondary schools in Gicumbi District, Northern province, Rwanda. The adopted research design was a descriptive survey. The study involved a total of one hundred and three (103) participants, consisting of ninety-seven (97) students and six (6) mathematics teachers from three purposively selected schools by using a simple random sampling method. Quantitative data were analyzed using the statistical package for social science software version 20 (SPSS) employing frequencies, bar charts, percentages, means, standard deviations, and t-tests. Validation of the instruments was done by addressing instruments to the supervisor to check, and peer reading by fellow masters students was used. The table of specification was used to check the content validity for mathematics test and two mathematics teachers of senior five were consulted and their comments were used to improve the instruments for beginning the collection of data. This study revealed that girls score better in mathematics than boys. In the mathematics test, girls achieved an average of 12.42 while boys scored an average of 10.82. This demonstrated that there were large disparities between boys’ and girls’ performance. It was recommended that remedial interventions that emphasize on these differences between boys and girls should be reinforced. Gender bias should not be present in mathematics teaching and assessment methods to help all learners understand that they are able to compete and perform well in the same condition.

Abstract: This study examined the interplay between practical activities and students’ performance in tropism, in Musanze district secondary schools, Rwanda. It identified a dominating teaching approach in teaching tropism and the impact of practical activities on students’ performance in tropism. As a quantitative study, it used purposive and stratified sampling to recruit a population of 19 Biology teachers and 177 students. For the teaching approaches used in teaching and learning of tropism, chalk and talk has a mean score of 2.80 compared to other approaches. “Laboratory method” is sometimes used also as it has a mean score of 2.60. About the effect of the practical activities on the students’ performance, the experimental group had significantly higher marks than the control group during the pre -test with a significant level of p < 0.05. Barriers that hinder the use of practical activities in teaching tropism include inadequate or lack of training/workshops in practical activities (SD: 1.069), lack of appropriate laboratory materials and equipment for tropism (SD: 1.759), and few hours provided by Rwandan curriculum in studying this lesson of tropism in advanced levels ( 1.457). The increase of the use of practical and laboratory activities in teaching biology, training or workshops of the teachers about practical activities, provision of the laboratory materials and equipment about tropism, and extension of the period time for teaching tropism on a curriculum will boost the understanding of the unit and performance of the students in biology.

Abstract: This study explored teachers’ perception in the potential use of smart phones for ICT integration in the teaching and learning of English composition writing. A qualitative case study design was chosen. The population was made up of all teachers of English composition at secondary school level in Gweru, Zimbabwe from which a sample of 5 such teachers were purposively selected. The teachers were interviewed using a semi-structured in-depth interview for data collection. Findings indicated that while teachers agreed that smart phone have potential as integration tools for English composition writing, there was fear of disruptions during lessons due to their lack of knowledge as to how to control them in the classroom. Teachers also acknowledged their lack of efficacy in the use of smart phone as a teaching tool. Teachers further indicated a lack of support for ICT integration for Arts subjects, which include English composition writing by the school administration. The study recommended that English teachers be trained in ICT integration through the smart phone for improved learner performance. It further recommended that secondary school administrators should support ICT integration across the curriculum.

Abstract: The study investigated how the invention of e – commerce shapes customer behavior towards purchasing decisions within the fashion industry before and after the pandemic. The study was guided by two objectives namely, to examine the effect of Business to Business (B2B) platforms and to assess the impact of Business to Customer (B2C) platforms on customer behavior at ICONIC Fashion Stores. Built on a cross-sectional design, the study utilized a sample of 384 participants and collected data using Google forms. Data was processed using SPSS software and analyzed using inferential statistics. Results indicate that ecommerce, together with its dimensions of B2B and B2C are weak and insignificant in predicting customer buying behavior. The researcher concludes that ecommerce through the platforms of B2B and B2C is weak and insignificant in explaining customer buying behavior and probably. Accordingly, ecommerce platforms can’t single handedly guarantee sustainable customer behavior unless they are accompanied by other factors such direct marketing, routine advertisement, sales promotion and favorable terms as well as branding among others. The researcher recommends that guarantee sustainable customer behavior, e-commerce platforms should be accompanied by other factors such as direct marketing, routine advertisement, sales promotion and favorable terms as well as branding among others. This is because ecommerce platforms adopted in the current study are weak and insignificant in explaining customer buying behavior and thus supporting such efforts with augmented customer stimulating yet centric in promoting sales would go a long way in informing customer buying behavior.
